[OTTD] Tankman652's Screenshots

Post by Tankman652 »

Hello everyone,
Just a little background into how I got started into OTTD. This was back when I was into the Yogscast and I remember seeing the video they did on OTTD. Of course they sucked at the game. After yelling at them for stuff that I knew even though I had never played the game, I clicked on that download button and got hooked on OTTD.

I live in Michigan and in Michigan we get a lot of Canadian National, ex Grand Trunk Western, CSX (I live in Marysville, north of Detroit south of Port Huron, long story short CSX bought out Port Huron to Detroit RR) and the trains in this area are fast and long. I grew up along the railroad tracks always saw the fast freights heading to Detroit, and Chicago. But to my disappointment when I got OTTD it felt more English then anything.

But I wasn't too disturbed by this and I said to myself, "Hey you got yourself a sweet free train game be happy". And I was. I would go on multiplayer see how the "pros" would play the game, watched videos on how to play the game and so on so forth. But when I was browsing the servers I found a city builder server. Try to join and says you need GRF's. Puzzled I was so I searched what a GRF. Boy was my brain blown. Next thing you know I have downloaded countless scenarios and new GRF's (first one was Antarctica, that I thought was awesome). Found out about the NARS and ECS. (Found out about ECS first instead of FIRS). Lucky for me I installed ECS in order that would allow me to play it properly. All this stuff blew me away and I slowly but surely acquired more and more GRF's so that it would match railroads in America and in my area.

So, without further a-do I bring you my gameplay of the scenario Gold Rush with GRF's that I believe gives true a North American experience. My start date is 1850. Enjoy! :D

This topic ended up needing approval for some reason, and you had posted it twice, but with a different screenshot the second time. So I've merged them together and edited the second post. :)

it looks like we have just acquired a new ottd player, welcome in the community.

About your screenschots: i think you try path-based signals, they are much more effective than block signals.

An update on White River. The line from Gold Port to City of Plains Has been upgraded to 2 tracks making for much more efficent food and passanger service. Along with that the heavier trains have been upgraded to 2-6-0 Mongul, and a new major port has been instaled in Gold Port.

Also a new loging line has been instaled just north of Tunton and delivers wood to a paper mill located in Tunton. The log trains are lead by the old 4-4-0 that were replaced.
