[OTTD] Pilot's Screenshots

Post by Pilot »

Hey all! Welcome to Pilot's Screenshot thread!

I've been playing the game for a long long time now, and feel that in recent times, I've been getting a lot better at playing the game in a way that suits me, a realistic fashion, that isn't necessarily the most efficient! If you haven't seen my thread before, please take the time to look through the whole thing, and see how much I've improved. If I'm honest, some of my original screenshots embarrass me, but they're here now, so what can you do?

I hope to keep this thread very active, however, that unfortunately isn't always possible. Especially when some of the best screenshots take time and effort to put together! Anyway, that's the end of my introduction, I hope you enjoy these!

A very young me wrote wrote:Hi i am new here but a long time TTD Player. Anyway here are some of my screenshots. I will update as i go along.
The 1st one is where it all started. My HQ It has grown a bit since then.
The 2nd one is my main station London Euston.
And finnaly the 3rd one are the two commuter Stations in London

Comments welcome as to how i can improve my gameplay.
Oh my god! The grammar in that original message is awful!

Here is the second batch.
This is where i started to build the West Coast Main Line.
The 1st Stop out of London is Milton Keynes Central. In the Background you can see the Depot 1A and the Railway Musuem.
The 2nd Stop for commuter Traffic is Oxford. With the fast lines in the middle for speed 4 intermodal trains pass through the Station itself.
The 3rd Stop is Stratford-upon-Avon. It was the Terminus while money was collected for Birmingham New Street.

Very nice picture, just one comment, the junctions you use have very low capacity, I know there is low density traffic in those areas but in the coming years this could be a problem for you with increasing capacity.

I know Mr Smith but these are temporary Junctions as the line to Shrewsbury and beyond has just opened.
I have had to remodel some of the junctions around London because of Capacity issues

I think you should show your town buildings, it looks weird without them, and also crop your images to really focus on the subject at hand.

Hi very nice, again one suggestion is to use PBS in your track layout, if you are not sure I made a mock up of the London station, PBS will increase traffic that can pass through of that junction. More info can be found at the OpenTTD Wiki.

Hope this helps,

This can cause jamming, but usually in screenshots you do have signals facing the platforms, as this is more realistic.

if you want them facing the stations, place them up further, in real life the signals are always BEFORE a junction for the same reason i mentioned, if a train stops for a red signal, it should not jam the junction

Sorry I mis-read it - I thought you were saying that you shouldn't have PBS facing a station.
