First of all, I would like to apologise to Juggynaunt, whose name I have been misspelling as Juggynaut this whole time

Here's Munsala West station (on the western side) and Munsala HS (on the eastern). Both are train stations, and although one is bigger and the other smaller, the smaller one, Munsala HS, HS meaning High Speed, has more trains per hour than any other station. Trains from 3 companies call here. Munsala West is a larger station, which does have high-speed trains too, although they can go at maximum 200-250kph. Trains from Munsala HS can reach 380kph !

Magometon High Line station, where bullet trains speed right through the station building! Four rail types meet here: trams, metro (with platforms hidden under the bridge), fast regional rail and high speed rail (but they don't stop here, you'll have to transfer to Rutherford).

Settlement Dolinsk. Fast train № 240 "Omsk-Novosibirsk" led by a passenger electric locomotive ChS2 stopped for a short stop on the Dolinsk platform. Electric train ER2 with commuter "Dolotova - Kamensk" went to the village Tavda. From Dolinsk to Tavda can also be reached by bus, minibus and private car. Both settlements are connected by the long-distance road M20, which can be reached by public transport or private car from Omsk to Novosibirsk and back as an alternative to the passenger train.

Ross River, a quaint hamlet, where the wood cutters have enjoyed a very pleasant and quiet lifestyle for a long time; they do like the slow pace in the valley; but now they dislike what has been happening in the foothills behind their village - the hectic future has come to meet the unhurried past.

So come with the best guess of what the transportation of tomorrow will look like.

I haven’t received any PM Emperor Jake, but I want the theme for March to be “The Near Future”.Emperor Jake wrote: Congratulations to Juggynaunt for winning the February 2019 competition!A first time winner as well! A PM has been sent and we expect a theme soon.

Franice, 1992. The island of Montbleu is in the middle of nowhere, with no town off the coast, and despite its connections with most of the world's biggest cities through its airport, Montbleu is still stuck in the olden days because of poor access to other places. Streetcars going through the island are getting extremely old and no other models have been delivered since the 30s. Only ships provide regular connection to the mainland, but luckily, Montbleu also has a rail freight terminal, from another tramway line, which saw its last passenger service in 1953.
Maybe the future generations will find a solution to build a road bridge or a railway bridge through Montbleu to stop isolating it. We're slowly approaching the 21th century and the island's inhabitants are confident about the future...

Ross River, 50 years on, still a small village, but the future has arrived with a vengeance. Connected to the National grid and the nearby wind farm, no more reading books in the evenings in the faint light of a candle; of course they now watch television instead. No more harvesting those logs by horse cart; a tramway has been built to get the timber to the rail head. The railway too has been upgraded to diesel operation with shiny new rolling stock. Not done yet, a brand new suspended monorail service is passing the village, soon there will be a station for a quick dash to the city.

Re: Screenshot Of The Month Competition - March 2019 - ENTRIES
Not enough entries so far, I'll keep it open for a day or two more. If we don't have enough by then I'll have to extend it into April.
Anyway here's my entry...
Anyway here's my entry...
It is the near future on the Great River Railroad. Powerful new hybrid diesels haul busy commuter trains on unelectrified lines. On the freight tracks, new high-level catenary allows the use of double stack container trains hauled by electric locomotives which greatly increases throughput.

Re: Screenshot Of The Month Competition - March 2019 - ENTRIES
I thought that if there were 3 entries you could still start the SOTM competition ?
Not that I wanted it to begin today, but rather that there's no need to extend it into April.

The future is going through Luhall. The new highway will bring more commercial activity. A new station is being built. But with some problems. The neighbors oppose the demolition of the historic central square. It seems that the future will pass throug history anyway.

I guess 4 screenshots will have to do... I'll make a note that futuristic themes don't seem to do well, as evidenced by the very first round of this thread.

Re: Screenshot Of The Month Competition - March 2019 - ENTRIES
This topic is a good idea. But I think that should be a choice each new winner so that it is as possible as much as possible competitors. Then the voting will be more successful and interesting.
. And what will be the new name, it all depends on your imagination and thoughts, including already passed the competition
. So go ahead.

Busy real life times and a period of migration to a bigger better faster computer kind of put the kibosh to my most excellent idea for a submission, or there would have been five. It's spring and the snow's a'melting. Everybody has tossed the mouses and the remotes and the OTTDs and left the igloo for some much needed sun. Not to worry though. The first storm of spring and they'll all come home a'runnin'.Emperor Jake wrote:I guess 4 screenshots will have to do... The really good news is my old PC only had a dead cmos battery and is now running as good as new, so now I have enough PCs for a network ... except now I can't find my old router. With a little luck I'll find it before the next theme is revealed.

Re: Screenshot Of The Month Competition - March 2019 - ENTRIES
Voting is complete. I think, that in this time there will be a tie between the two competitors. But only one vote decided the outcome. Very funny
. Waiting from Jake's official announcement of the winner and the announcement of the new theme.
I don't know if that's the right thing to say. But there is one thing that I don't really like about this topic. Again, the moderator knows better how to organize everything
. I think that it is necessary to establish a ban on participation of those screenshots which already took part in the previous votes. Otherwise, can the same screenshot periodically send if it more or less corresponds to the current theme
. I just think that you should send different screenshots for each topic. So it will be more correct and honest in relation to other competitors. My opinion. I will not be surprised if there are those who will begin to strongly object to me on the matter
.
Regards, STD.

Wow! Now that was a tight race between #1 and #2. A four screenshots were excellent.
Now that my new-to-me laptop is up and running (although I do dislike the Windows10 GUI), I'm looking forward to the Emperor's official declaration and the winner's new theme so that I can get back into the business of taking beautiful screenshots so that everybody can vote for me.
I have no problem with screenshots based on the same game scenario. In fact, sometimes it can be quite interesting to see how the participant's game has evolved over time, to the point that the features are quite different. As long as the screenshot fits the current theme, I think that's ok.STD wrote:I don't know if that's the right thing to say. But there is one thing that I don't really like about this topic. I did not see a problem with that. The March theme was all about 'The Near Future' and my entry has depicted the near future at Ross River. I call that a continuation of a story ...STD wrote:... I agree with you, it would be a completely different matter, had I won February, then selected the March theme and re-entered nearly the same entry again.
Anyway, thank you all for the support I received; the lumberjacks at Ross River are very happy about that ...

The next month's theme will be an Open Theme so that we may attract more entries.
Entries are open, do whatever you want and hopefully we'll get some nice variety!

As for resubmitting the same screenshot twice, I won't ban it but I'll ask people to avoid doing it unless the theme fits really well. It might also be a good idea to ban resubmitting screenshots that have already won. If it's a different shot from the same scenario I think it's fine, as wallyweb says I like seeing glimpses of the evolution of maps.
