Every spring when the ice and snow melted and the flood washed away the bridge, the town of Jasper was divided in two with no way to visit friends and family who lived across the river. The citizens complained and the local authorities responded by building a new higher rail bridge, but it was so high that they also had to build gondola lifts so that the citizens could reach the bridge. The train and truck stations at each end were built under the bridge to save on the cost of clearing more land, a very convenient New Map Feature.
