[PAUSED] Stanier Streamliner

Post by kingmush360 »

Scrapped the Highspeed train!

As some of you may know, DJC has released a new UK steam set, featuring a Streamlined Coronation
(Duchess of Hamilton - or pre war Duchesses) that seemed a little.. bright to me.

So I thought, why don't I give it a go!

Here is my progress so far (for some reason they are brighter than they should be, water washed):

P.S. PAINT.net is not working due to system update, Streamliner will take a little longer I am afraid.

looks good....

Question: is the Duchess Class the same as the West Country class? Just wondering cos I'd love a West Country Class loco in my game, specifically City Of Wells which is where I live....:D

Erm, I think you are thinking of the west countrys and the Battle of Britain classes being the same loco just with different name.

Yes, after I have finished the Stanier and the Shinkansen bullet train, I'll be doing that anyway.

Look at the sig and it shows you what order, releases and WIP.

Nice to see some people like the spam-cans, i like them myself, other than Bullieds oil bath thing.

Those colours are terrible, looks like it's been washed at too high a temperature!

You make a good point Mushy - the colours are great on my phone. Could the discrepancy have come from the way the different systems are treating the indexed colour?

Anyway, it's looking good. Although it seems to have lost a lot of detail in your streamlined version. I'm aware that this may/may not be anywhere near complete, but I'm trying to give some honest criticism. In particular I'm looknig at the front of the engine (say in sprite 16) there's no colour variation or other means of distinguishing any detail.

You're doing great though, keep it up.

thanks hammo, I am trying to get the 500 odd sprites done with the outline first, then I will go over and detail them.

I am going a fair lick, 20 sprites a day, maybe i could push about 30 sprites per day, that'll be about 150 sprites in a school week and about 100 at weekends.
Total of 250 sprites per week, so about 2 weeks to finish the Coronation seems about right to me, although some of you would say that is sooo slow!

Look good so far. :) My one just used the same texture as the MSTS model it was converted from, so that's where the bright red comes from.

For the person asking about a West Country class, I have just finished making a streamlined Merchant Navy, which looks pretty much the same, on a Locomotion scale anyway.

I am up to here now.
Sprite 016 with detail and sprite 039, my latest one.

You do? I thought that the game doesn't allow that many sprites.

it has lots of animated parts in it because it is a big boy.
