Using the good information found in the forums, I was able to use Vehicle Creator and MSTS2Locomotion to create a VIA Rail P42. I used the Y offset of -0.2, but the end result inside Locomotion doesn't quite look right:

Is there a setting in MSTS2Locomotion that also needs to be set? I used the controls to make sure the picture was completely in the large box, too. Thanks, and thanks to everyone creating those great graphics -- you all are inspiring.

Well hmm I can't tell you how to fix it but can tell you what I do... When I first tried converting my MSTS stock over I had the same problem... I decided not to use vehicle creator and use locotool and a freeware (peter's xml editor) to see the code. I undid an existing box car and copied my bocar's png file in place of them. Guess what!!! yep car was positioned properly. The area you ned to work in is all the sprite info at bottom and 136 of them (too much editing for me) try what I did and hopefully that will put you train on the right track.... sorry bad pun

Looks likes an incorrectly numbered sprite to me.

Re-convert and try again.

I have already made that one for Locomotion btw.

I took the suggestion and used an existing XML file to start with and then dropped my new graphics on top, and changed the text.

I saw a thread about the VIA Rail P42DC, but never saw a notice that it had been released. I'll take another look through the US and Canadian sets and updates from AMI Trains and see if it's out there.

If you feel so inclined to post it, I'd appreciate it. I was looking at doing the P42s and the new Renaissance coaches, but it looks like you had already done most of the work in this thread:

viewtopic.php?t=26395

The MSTS2Locomotion conversion system does an OK job, but it's certainly not the level of what you're doing. Do you end up hand-editing the sprite images once they're converted out of MSTS, or do you start from scratch? I haven't seen a good discussion of the "cleanup" work to make a quality graphic.

There does seem to be a lot of work done and hard to find in the forums, not to mention unfinished packs and starting of another one and another and so on.... IA could be right about spring sequence although the problem seems so similiar to my first attempt I also could be correct.
My hand editing like others is trail and error as not all fields have been discovered as to what effects they have. Cleaning up sprite start before they are run thru MSTS2Loco for those that prefer shiney like new equipment. Debugging(cleanup) has been discussed in so many topics I would suggest go to 1st topic read each one all the way thru... get about 8 large cans of coffee if you plan on doing it all at on time  trail error and ask (after using search).

I thought you understood my PM of earlier this week?! Or are you testing how fast you can gather 3 warnings?

I'm guessing the lack of the original image in this topic has led to the confusion. Judging by my reply i'm presuming that the original poster was able to get VC to work, but when he created the .dat file and put it in Locomotion there was a problem.

The problem was not getting Vehicle Creator to work (which your post seems to try and describe) but the result of using the program to create a graphic and .dat file. Hope this helps clear up any confusion.
