Finally the last one for the SS series pack is finished. It's the first Chinese made electric loco being put into production.

Are these cars like real chinese cargo boxcars?
edit found a website with some pics from chinese freightcars
http://www.trainfanz.com/trains_rolling ... car-P1.htm
or the start of the page; http://www.trainfanz.com/contents_english.HTML
And models
http://www3.telus.net/ChinaRail/Freight.html
The only thing that is not very successful in the wireless version : Bungee Jumping 8o
Just fold at the dotted line and cut it out with a pair of scissors. If you are under the age of 16 please ask one of your parents or an adult supervisor if she/he can help you.

These graphics are actually very good, they remind me of plastikman's or even Seelenquell's stuff in terms of quality. Will there be a full-on Chinese Rail pack or is it gonna be just separate releases?

It would be nice if you could at least place all your mods in one top post so that we won't miss out on some.

All of them are made from real models, and I've already specified the model of each car in the comment of the render preview  The website above is one of the place where the references come from.

They will be released as a separate pack, so there will be a total of 6 packs for China Railway:
CRH Pack (Highspeed rail) -> released last year
HXD Pack (AC traction electric locos)
SS Pack (DC traction electric locos)
DF Pack (Diesel-electric locos)
Passenger Car Pack
Freight Car Pack

I will consider doing so when I've finished my 2012 releases, then I will switch to make new churches at the start of next year.

I've found the sprites generated unsatisfactory. I can hardly see the details on the van :( I've adjusted the contrast of the texture and fine tuned the lighting angle of the scene but it brings only little improvement

They might look better when they're down to the right scale though. Quite often models that don't look right larger look impeccable when re-sized to their target in-game size.

I've heavily modified the textures again, but the color still look bad

The quality of sprites has been improved by adapting a special palette to reduce color noise 8)

It looks better, but I still see noise unfortunately, presumably from the large amount of details you've done. Sometimes you really gotta hate the sprite rendering from this game.

I took away most of the colors in the palette, leaving just gray and brown with different lightness. The cars are painted with brown color with low saturation, so gray pixels will be inserted for interpolation when PS try to adapt indexed color on them. I'm still trying to fine tune the color of the cars as well as considering to have the car bodies and other parts being rendered separately, if the world doesn't come to it's end tomorrow

That's all of the tanker wagons, but it's still far away from completing the whole freight car collection
