Here's a minigame which is optimized to run a lot of trucks :) .
There's enough space to use a few trains, too.
You need Zeaks freeway (without causeway, just put the roadfree.dat in your objects folder). http://www.zeak.com.au/lomo.htm#r

I recommand you use LT Wrapper for the trucks http://www.amitrains.co.uk/trains.php
and optional the roofless station http://www.locomotion-fanpage.net/wbb/i ... tem&id=108

I believe the potential of Locomotion to play it like a road traffic simulation is pretty undiscovered (or did I miss any posted savegames? ), but can be fun. Of course, some things could be improved, for example traffic lights at small junctions (alternatively you need to modify all small junctions to small roundabouts to avoid unsolvable traffic congestions) and I wish traffic would be animated more fluid, but there's no other game offering this possibility as far as I know, because all games in this genre have only very simple roads, missing oneway-roads or wide curves that don't let you build interchanges and the more advanced simcity 4 rushhour has the problem that you can't control trucks and vehicles just "pop up and fade away" after a short time, which is killing most of the fun in my opinion.

Because building a small island with an advanced road system can be part of the fun, my suggestion is to use this thread as an invitation to post or show similar creations if you feel inspired. (perhaps I should change the thread title, suggestions?)

By the way, one trick to avoid buildings popping up at undesired places is to build roads like bridges in the editor and then simply raise the land under them.

Yes, trucks can be fun :D . I enjoy playing with trucks and developping motorway junctions more and more and try to integrate this concept in normal, larger maps in the game, although this requires more work because a useful functionality of the landscaping tool of the scenario editor is missing in the game.
Here's a screenshot of a modified "Lost worlds" map I'm currently playing without mods (for a change :) ) with another variation of a motorway junction.

I know it's not the same, but if you're already interested in what can be done with trucks and buses, you might want to look at this old thread about Openttd traffic jams.

I tried doing the same with openttd some time ago, but couldn't get much satisfaction, maybe because I'm not really familiar with the game, and I missed the wide curves and one-way-roads for bridges and tunnels.

Great looking scenario ! Unfortunatly I can't get it to work because Zeak's site is gone dead...Are those road.DAT's anywhere else available for download. Now that I'm asking...I'm also looking for the gray baseground plates that he uses in his Corridor Scenario from wich a video can be seen on youtube...

Thnxsss !!

ahh, the joys of the Royal Australian Navy. I believe you could just copy the original one way road, and lose the graphic effect.

I'm not so sure about this, because there was at least one line of code modified. Unfortunately I don't have this file (roadfree.dat) anymore, perhaps someone can upload it, otherwise I delete this map and the savegame.

You need the author's permission to post their files, how ever hard that may be.

At the moment you can't get it anywhere, not via a searchmode and not on the TT-Forums. It's a file created by Zeak. Zeak is not available at the moment and his website is down. I needed some stuff to from his website too and contacted him directly via e-mail.

He responded that he was sorry, but he was out of the country for his work. He also said that his new website will probebly be online in the new year...Probably January or February...So until then his website isn't updated and his objects aren't available...

So until then we all have to wait...
