Brantwan wrote:andy do you think you can make the vechiles haul gold so I don't have to buy a different truck to do that?
Smaller vehicles (tractors etc.) will already refit to gold / diamonds / valuables. Large vehicles (dump trucks etc.) will not, and I'm not going to add that. Discussed somewhere much earlier in the thread.
buckethead wrote:Its aimed to be a set that uses tractors, bulldozers and delta trucks, it doesn't get too specific. Am I right?
The tracking table I have is pretty specific. I haven't published it anywhere, but it includes:
- bulldozers (mostly done)
- wheeled tractors (partly done)
- dump trucks / mining trucks (mostly done)
- logging forwarders and skidders (not done)
- industrial haulers: straddle carriers, terminal tractors (not done)
- large off-highway trucks for logging and outsized loads (not done)
- nodwells / deltas (not done)
- linn / lombard half-track tractors (not done)

Everything has to be useful for hauling cargo. I've thought about vehicles that can't haul much like excavators, graders etc. They won't be in this set.

cheers,

Andy

Um, Caterpillar makes some of those huge mining trucks, and I think some Bulldozers, bascially they make Big, heavy and power stuff.

You can put up a link, but standard on-highway trucks won't be in this set.

One day there'll be a North American Road Vehicle Set.....Dan MacK and I have discussed it previously and he has some rather nice sprites drawn. It's in queue behind HEQS, FIRS, my ship set, and all the many things Dan is doing. One day we'll get around to it - right Dan? :)

cheers,

Andy

the freightliner is a standard highway truck but the western star is more like a heavy duty truck their dump trucks hold 40 tons

I have to say, the 6900 XD certainly looks worthy of HEQS inclusion.

I agree with skeedr, it would be great for large-capacity logging trucks (175 tons according to this). It would be nice next to the huge capacity dump trucks as those are (obviously) not built to carry large objects like logs or rolls of steel.

And I just want to say, great set, I really like it! :D

Ah well you guys might have a point there. There are logging trucks planned (there is one commented out at the end of the current nfo should anyone care to look).

The one I've drawn so far is based on a Mack M series for 1960s/1970s. I haven't finished a trailer for it yet.

I'll probably draw a Pacific or Hayes as well, but they're quite similar to the Western Star or a big Kenworth. They'll all look the same at pixel sizes anyway :)

Lots of pictures of all these types of trucks at Hank's Truck Pictures. Here's some:

Thanks. Grf authors don't get enough positive feedback in my view :) I should go say nice things about my favourite sets now :o

sorry for double quoting posting but the western star is only built fer heavy duty loads take the 4900 fa for example its mainly used in austrillian road trains for carring cattle and oilyet the 4900 ex looks pretty cool and goerge should add it in his long hauler project but i cant message for a weird reason now

Yeah, that heavy fright Western Star Truck might actually be a nice idea, that way we can at least send stuff around the map at a decent speed if you intend to use this set for medium to long range tasks.
