Smaller graphics for portable devices

Post by dominik81 »

Hi!

As some of you might know, I'm working on the Nintendo DS port of OpenTTD and also on a unified version for portable devices.

For those version some additional graphics will be required and it would be great if one of you pixel artists could draw them. Slye_Fox had already done all of the buttons from the main toolbar, but more will be needed as this project progresses. I'll keep an updated list of needed graphics in this topic.

List of currently needed graphics:
  • switch toolbars icon for 22x22 pixels
  • maybe also a new switch toolbars icon for 16x16 pixels
List of previously needed (already done) graphics:
  • countours icon (in the minimap window) redrawn for 16x16 pixels
  • rail-and-road icon (in the minimap window) redrawn for 16x16 pixels
  • trees icon (in the minimap window) redrawn for 16x16 pixels

Hehe, that could even lead me to buy a Nintendo DS :-) Keep up the good work!

Lol, I'm actually from Alfter, but I went to school in Bornheim. :D

Thanks for the graphics, AndersI. They're included in the current Alpha 6 release already. Screenshot

Ok, I need some more icons. Right now I'm working on getting a split toolbar like the DS uses into trunk. On the screenshot in my initial post it is the last button. But that icon is a 16x16 pixel icon. In normal OpenTTD builds, icons are 22x22 pixels. Hence, I need a 22x22 pixel icon for "switch toolbar". I'm not too fond of the icon used on the DS, so feel free to come up with something completely new. :)

Will this do? Not sure what you had in mind. I also did both 16 and 22 px so you could have matching ones.

Wow.. I love you devs so much. Yeah. So much that it sounds sorta creepy when I say it.

What do you guys do for a living (I'm assuming OTTD doesn't pay the bills)?

I might just get a DS if you get this working - how exactly does one get the game onto the console?

Might be useful for the train rides I have to take regularly. I can track my own progress by re-creating the line ;)
