Nintendo DS port (Alpha 6)

Re: Nintendo DS port (Alpha 6)
looks like not much is happening anymore.
too sad.
this is my favourite (together with settlers) on the nds
(i have a nds /xl, the 3ds is far too small for me).
at least small maps run ok, until they get too crowded.
i wish they would still work on it.
i would even pay for it, since i barely know a better game on nds.
why not make a "premium" version ?
for those that are willing to pay for it ?
or is openttd completely tied to public domain ?
and the fantastic ttdpatch by j.drexler doesnt have an nds clone, i think.
how i'd wish we had some more ttd on nds.
i will try it with ds2x86 next, but i doubt it woll run.
maybe at least standard tt.

Re: Nintendo DS port (Alpha 6)
you may charge money for openttd, but anyone who pays for it gets the right to pass it on (for free) by the GPL, so it is usually rather pointless.
Re: Nintendo DS port (Alpha 6)
I recently found out that there is an Transport Tycoon for the DS and what a pity, it seems that it is not worked on anymore.
Please whoever started this version continue with your work!!! oTTD is the perfect game for the DS.
I would even pay for it!!!
Please continue your great work!!!!

Re: Nintendo DS port (Alpha 6)
I think dominik who started it, has left, so unless a new coder will carry on his work, we're stuck with Alpha 6. The DS doesn't really have the best hardware to run OTTD

Re: Nintendo DS port (Alpha 6)
Hey there!
Having just returned from two years of traveling I just stumbled across OpenTTD and saw that my NDS port is still getting some attention.
The bad news is: I still don't have time to work on the Nintendo DS port. So unless someone else picks up the work I started, chances are slim that the port will get an update.
And before anyone asks about a 3DS port. The 3DS hasn't been hacked yet, hence homebrew won't run on that system.
Cheers,
"Not dead, but inactive" Dominik

Re: Nintendo DS port (Alpha 6)
Once a 3DS is hacked and can run homebrew, plus when you have some time, is there any possibility of a port? The hardware would really be better and lots of people would use it (including me).
Also, how did you port for NDS in the first place? Was much coding needed?

If I have time, probably. Having time is the biggest factor.thphwh wrote:Once a 3DS is hacked and can run homebrew, plus when you have some time, is there any possibility of a port?
The original NDS port already took a lot time and probably much more effort than any of the other ports out there. Adapting all the GUI menus for the tiny screen is only the tip of the iceberg, the DS hardware is quite unique and extremly limiting. Plus, I had to learn the internals first. And also the homebrew DS SDKs are not as well documented as the official Nintendo SDK probably is.

Thanks for your effort anyway, Dominik!

Re: Nintendo DS port (Alpha 6)
Comes there a Alpha 7 update? Yes, when?
Re: Nintendo DS port (Alpha 6)
Sorry, there's no Alpha 7. Unless someone else continues my work, the NDS port is dead.
