Serious question. It's best to explain this using the sequence of screenshots below...
(1) In the world generation menu I set the snowline height to 5
(2) In the actual game, the lowest point that snow appears is height level 4
(3) The point at which snow starts to affect other items (roads etc.) is height level 6
I would expect the map setting (1) to be the same as what's in the actual game, preferably the former (2) but also understandable if it were the latter (3). What's confusing to me is that it doesn't seem to correlate to either.
I've already flagged this as a possible bug on FlySpray, but with no comments there I was hoping to get a bit of input here.

Re: Where does the snowline start?
The snowline you set is the lowest level where towns need food for growth.
I'm using 7 for the snowline, and a town at that level needs food, while a town at level 6 doesn't.

Re: Where does the snowline start?
Ah, ok. But I would still expect the need for food to be linked to the visible snowline, i.e. towns need food when they are covered in snow, not one level below this point.
