OpenTTD hangs/jerks every 30 seconds for some milliseconds
Hello Board
- I have an IBM T60p with XP and 4 GB RAM
- OpenTTD version 1.1.3
- Mapsize doesn't matter
- Currently are 3 KI's in the game: AiAi, ChooChoo and DictatorAI
- No other programs run
- CPU-usage is around 20%
Any advice? What can I do?
Regards,
Lemming

You say mapsize doesn't matter, so I assume you've tested this with multiple mapsizes. Do you also experience this problem if you play without any AIs at all?

Thanks for your Replies,
- i monitored openttd with process monitor from sysinternals...there were no errors...just the autosave folder was not found
- i started the game in compability mode to win 2000...didn't helped
- then i restarted the KI's and it helped.

I've tested your savegame in OTTD 1.1.3 and there are is discernable hanging or even jitter. I can only assume that your PC is too under-powered.
EDIT: Also, note that at the same time as the game running in fast forward fullscreen windowed on the 1680x1050 monitor I have Firefox (7.1) running with 9 tabs, a Trillian IRC window open, Windows Live Messenger, steam Friends list and a chat window and Zune playing music spread across three screens.
My hadware is
CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 945 (~3GHz)
RAM - 4x1GB DDR2
GFX Card - AMD (ATi) Radeon HD5750 (Monitors are 2x1280x1024 and 1x1680x1050)

I see strange freezes on fast forward, problem disappeared after stopping DictatorAI (stop_ai 4 on console - http://wiki.openttd.org/Console )

I can't believe it I played the original 15 years ago on a 486... This is a 2D-Game and eating not much RAM.SkeedR wrote:I can only assume that your PC is too under-powered.
Re: OpenTTD hangs/jerks every 30 seconds for some millisecon
you played a game on a 486. now it has 100 times the map size, 100 times the vehicles, improved vehicle intelligence, improved AI intelligence, more customisability, and you complain that you cannot run it anymore on a computer that is just 100 times faster than a 486?
