Grouped trains options when translated are too short
Hi everyone,
I noticed the options screen in grouped trains are in English perfect, but in Dutch, the whole sentence is too long.
Maybe if you look at the pictures i added, 1=when it's opened, 2=when i make it bigger, 3=the options are unreadable and 4=like the English version is perfect.
Maybe if this window adjusts to the translated text, or moves bigger when the screen is like 2.
Picture 1 i deleted because there is no room for 4 pictures...
Add shared vehicles.... what does it do?

So getting the latest nightly should fix your problem.Mercurial wrote:(svn r14014) -Codechange: Add support for automatically sizing drop down lists to the widest list item.
If you add one vehicle that has shared orders to a group, this allows you to automatically add all the other vehicles that share their orders with the one you added.Mr.Killer wrote:Add shared vehicles.... what does it do?

Thanks Foobar, that was not known by me....
The Nightly option is good, and has improvements better filled-in then the latest stable. When it comes to playing, i rely on the stable one and find it a pity not all the nice things and options added in the Nightlies are in the latest stable.. Why is that anyway?
edit:

I looked just now at nightly 14103 and set it to dutch and still the text does not fit in the window.....FooBar wrote:So getting the latest nightly should fix your problem.Mercurial wrote:(svn r14014) -Codechange: Add support for automatically sizing drop down lists to the widest list item.

AFAIK, although the code to support sizing was added at r14014, it hasn't yet been implemented for all drop down lists. The station class list is certainly not resizing:

Re: Grouped trains options when translated are too short
I guess they just added the code, but did not enable it
This happens in r14099: I always play in English, so didn't notice a difference after I spotted that commit on Mercurial, but that may also be because there's no difference to be spotted

Because it usually takes a lot of testing before a new feature is fully 'stable', so adding them to a stable release would render that release possibly unstable. From experience I can tell that the nightlies are in fact very stable, and in that occasional case you stumble upon a bug, it's usually fixed the next day!Mr.Killer wrote:When it comes to playing, i rely on the stable one and find it a pity not all the nice things and options added in the Nightlies are in the latest stable.. Re: Grouped trains options when translated are too short
Hi Foobar,
I just stumbled upon another odd thing...
Load this game in the latest nightly and then try to make the ships unload their oil at the station and leave to the platform without taking in ....oil!
If there is no train to load up the oil at once, they take it back, those morons.. but i can't convince them to NOT do so...
I hope this IS a bug too....
Thanks...
I'll keep track of the progress of the nightlies...

Re: Grouped trains options when translated are too short
Set the orders to "unload and leave empty" instead of the default "unload and take cargo". In fact, you actually should use "transfer and leave empty", else your ships will be very unprofitable.
Re: Grouped trains options when translated are too short
That's the point... if i had that option, and if you carfully looked you'll see that the boats unload and then reload the stuff they just unloaded.
All the options tried.
Now it's your turn

Re: Grouped trains options when translated are too short
Use "no load" option.
Re: Grouped trains options when translated are too short
Ha ha, sorry to bother you, the ship with 200 liters of oil stop at the dock and turn immediately for refuel at the .... what's-his-name ah, oil rig!
So, that does not work too!
Yes, i did the unload instruction right, try downloading my savegame and watch the ships go unloading and reloading, or turn right 180 degrees!
Edit: I just tried load options and unload options and found this: If you select unload, it saids unload and take cargo and when you select the load button and select no loading it works. But this is the very around the moon option. Can this be simpler?
Ps. never mind the akward humor i displayed right there...

Re: Grouped trains options when translated are too short
IMO it's already very simple. There's one category for loading actions, and another for unloading actions.Mr.Killer wrote:Can this be simpler?
Making the "no loading" option default in case you select one of the "unloading" options first would save some clicks though...
Re: Grouped trains options when translated are too short
Hi,
it saves some clicks..... yet this is why the option is not implanted in the stable version?

Re: Grouped trains options when translated are too short
Possibly because you haven't implemented it?
To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.
