Observations: on both builds game still 'barely' playable. When I turned on SLI the game definitely improved (I usually run 3 monitors)

I can confirm same issue, i can also confirm this issue appeared with 0.6.0 final, previously i used 0.6.0 rev2
Re: Just updated from 0.5.3 to 0.6.0, much heavier on system res
Test number 2:
0.5.3 vs R12837. I ran these simultaneously on 2 monitors (0.5.3 @ 1920x1200 and R12837 @ 1600x1200) starting both savegames at the same time. I then timed trains between known landmarks for a comparison.
Results 0.5.3 ran near full speed (fast forward didn't seem to speed things up but it ran nicely) and R12837 ran at about 40%-50% of 0.5.3 speed.
[Edit]
Retested - timing months for speed comparison.
R12837 ran June in 210 sec
0.5.3 ran June in 80 sec
0.5.3 ran June (fast forward) in 80 sec
This shows that R12837 is running this map at 40% of 0.5.3 and that 0.5.3 is not even able to run this at full speed.
[Edit 2]
Ran 0.5.3 on new map to baseline June which takes 75 sec to run (vs 80 sec above on savegame).

The valid test would be to compare using r12844 or superior

When do nightlies come out?
Re: Just updated from 0.5.3 to 0.6.0, much heavier on system res
They start compiling at 18:00 UTC, so about now. They should be finished within the next 45 minutes or so -- it can vary quite wildly at the moment.YukonRob wrote:When do nightlies come out?
No-one's more important than the earthworm.
Re: Just updated from 0.5.3 to 0.6.0, much heavier on system res
I tested it too on 0.5.3 and 0.6.0 and a current nightly. I can confirm the issue: everything OK in 0.5.3, slow in 0.6.0 and the nightly.
Solution: enable the new AI (alpha) in the patches.
The game will run smoothly as ever. Seems there is something wrong with the AI.

Re: Just updated from 0.5.3 to 0.6.0, much heavier on system res
Ran same test as above but with new nightly.
0.5.3 - 82 sec
R12850 - 227 sec
There seems to be no sign of improvement and maybe even a slow down.
Ran test again with new AI enabled on R12850
0.5.3 - 84 sec
R12850 - 84 sec
AI seems to be the problem (As Sulai discovered)

It's rather the building of depots and stations that takes a lot of time.YukonRob wrote:AI seems to be the problem (As Sulai discovered)
Anyhow... it should be fixed in r12857.
Can you test the whether the following custom compile fixes your speed problems?
OSX: http://devs.openttd.org/~bjarni/OTTD-OS ... test-1.dmg
Windows: http://devs.openttd.org/~glx/openttd-0. ... -win32.zip
Re: Just updated from 0.5.3 to 0.6.0, much heavier on system res
The windows fix works.

Yep, Thank you very much.YukonRob wrote:The windows fix works.
Sorry I haven't tried more stuff etc.
But luckily I can play my old game again

Now onto expanding my rail network

Re: Just updated from 0.5.3 to 0.6.0, much heavier on system res
Well I just updated to the latest nightly build and again I have a problem in my game.
0.6.0.12932 is the version I'm using. and it was fine with the nightly I used b4 ( OpenTTD_r12846)
My mouse slightly stutters around now somehow in that game when moving it above ''slow'' speed, other small games are fine and the speed in the simulation itself is also fine, just moving the mouse on screen is jumpy now, any ideas?
It aint the ai, with or without the new alpha ai the same thing happens.

Any ideas ?
