No locomotives available to build
Hello!
Because I'm not sure whether this is a bug, a bad GRF combination, or just a result of over-cheating (I've used the time cheat numerous times in this game) I've only posted it here for now.
The issue is that I can not build any locomotives. When I try to clone an existing train, an error message pops up and tells me that the vehicle is not available.

To fix the problem: open the console and type "reset_engines".
Not sure how it's caused, but using the date cheat seems likely.

Re: No locomotives available to build
The same happens when you start earlier than the vehicle set is available and pass through date of availability. E.g. the standard vehicle set is available from Jan 1. 1925. If you start a year earlier and pass Dec 31. 1924 no vehicles are available. But reset_engines helps. I think it is a bug. Tested with no additional GRFs.
I prefer to dedicate my free time rather to free and open software and organizations than private corporations that are, if not evil, money eager.

Re: No locomotives available to build
Introduction dates are randomized to about 2 years from the specified date. The exception are the two years immediately after start. Thus if you pass the introduction date of 1st January 1925, a vehicle will not necessarily immediately become available when you started earlier than 1924.liquid wrote:The same happens when you start earlier than the vehicle set is available and pass through date of availability. Playing too early? First engines start around 1950
Being a retired OpenTTD developer does not mean I know what I am doing.

There are definitely engines with intro dates years before 1950.Alberth wrote:Playing too early? First engines start around 1950

The first default loco in arctic and tropic is 1945, and toyland 1946. Temperate has a few earlier ones thanks to TTO's earlier start date.Baldy's Boss wrote:There are definitely engines with intro dates years before 1950.Alberth wrote:Playing too early? First engines start around 1950
