Theatre District
I just noticed how overrun with theatres Nantford is...the vacant lot at the city center and the one to the southeast of it (between two theatres and across from another) are both under construction with theatres according to the ? tool.
What sort of algorithm decides what sort of bullding fills a lot,and does it need improvement?

Re: Theatre District
You're probably just using a set with not very many different buildings. There are zones extending roughly in a circle from the center of town. Various zones have various possible buildings.
My Scenarios:
Archipiélago Hermoso (Latest Release: Version 3.2)
Turnpike Falls (Latest Release: Version 0.91)

Re: Theatre District
I haven't loaded any building NewGRFs.
Re: Theatre District
Well that looks an awful lot like 32bpp graphics to me.

Being a retired OpenTTD developer does not mean I know what I am doing.
Re: Theatre District
I wouldn't know, never tried them. Still, it's 1891 and so the houses may not have a massive variety yet.

Archipiélago Hermoso (Latest Release: Version 3.2)
Turnpike Falls (Latest Release: Version 0.91)

Re: Theatre District
This will happen if you service some towns before 1930 or so.
It's been around for a long a time, the screenshots attached are from a game I played in 2011
I went digging into it some time ago, I think it's a bug in the choice of building when the town expands, but I can't read the OpenTTD source code well enough to spot the cause.

Yes,it's zBase, but I don't think of that as a building set like TTRS or any of the "Houses" options...I assumed it came with an analogue for every town structure in the standard set.Alberth wrote:Like zBase?Chrill wrote:Well that looks an awful lot like 32bpp graphics to me.
From Andy's screenshots it looks like I have decades more of this in store!

If those theatres had all been pubs, I'd have thought the level was about right.

Wouldn't the quantity make a pub crawl too fatiguing?Simons Mith wrote:If those theatres had all been pubs, I'd have thought the level was about right.

Re: Theatre District
Tillydean likewise has an improbably active theatrical scene...including streets with uninterrupted rows.
