Turning off automatic creation of new industries

Post by viciu111 »

I was wondering if there was a way to turn automatic new industries creation off, like when u r playing and u want to have only industries which were cerated at the begining of gameplay. I was searching it in advanced options of industries and I cant find it.

You cannot do this with the default industries in OpenTTD, you will need a NewGRF industry set. Manual Industries replaces the default industries with similar versions that you can disable after initial spawning. ECS Vector and FIRS also support this concept, but both of them introduce entirely different industry and economic chains.

You can achieve that easily, also for default industries without any NewGRFs, if you use the scenario editor:
In the advanced settings choose in the map creation the setting 'funding only' for the amount of industries. Then create a random landscape. Then place as many industries as you want (e.g. many random industries). Then play the scenario and enjoy.

Mind that industries *will* close on a random basis, thus the amount of industries will decline and you might quickly be left with a map without any industries to which you can provide service.

Sounds like one way to wind up a passenger-traffic specialist...
