No increase in cargo-payments

Post by jensen1986 »

Hi,

How come it seems that my payment per delivered cargo doesnt go up as the years go by?

Should inflation be turned on?

If there's no inflation, you're not paid more per unit cargo and distance. Of course not. That's the very definition of inflation.

But costs increase faster than your income with inflation, keep that in mind when playing with inflation. After 170 years inflation stops, so it should not really affect your game dramatically.

You should not under-estimate exponential behaviour :)

income: 2% inflation for 170 years: 1.02**170 = 29.0. Thus 29x more income
expenses: 3% inflation for 170 years: 1.03**170 = 152.2. Thus 152x more expenses
ratio: ~5
Your company *does* have to get better and about 5 times more efficient. But over 170 years vehicles get faster and you expand your network. So that usually more than makes up for this decrease in relative income per unit cargo and distance.
