how to reduce the size of map file in multi-player?

Post by dirace »

you know, when you create a new multi-player game with tree, the map file size maybe grow bigger. it's bad when some one join the game and download the map. but if not permit the tree, the world is urgly.
so, are there any way to reduce the map file size?

Use a smaller map size. Eg. Step down the x/y size of the map. 512x512 is a good size that is not too tight, but also work fine for most users in multiplayer.

you can tune up the compression settings, but they are currently set in a way where increasing it costs a lot of CPU with very little gain in size reduction.
