Welcome dear reader.

I am happy that you opened this topic, though the title already says everything: There is a new release candidate and a changelog in the usual place.

Well, as you showed the courtesy to open the topic and to read what someone writes about stuff, about which everything has been written, I might tell some more. :)

So, what happened since RC1? Some guys did marvelous testing, and created some nice and good bug reports. (Sometimes I think the latter part is more difficult)
That way some well hidden desyncs could be fixed. Even more impressive: Most of them have been present since 0.5.0. The devs had also some fun, as one of those desyncs kept at least two of them busy for a whole day (8 am to 7 pm). Especially as two independent bugs coincidented [1] :)

Finally I would like to remind you, that there is still some tedious "RC" in the version of the new release. I hope you know what to do :)

[1] If that word is not yet known, I would like to claim my copyright on it.

Perhaps the word you want is "coincided"? ;)

Hooray for 0.7.1! I will ask petern to upgrade his server to the RC and see if it fixes the desyncs with TaI. :P

Hey devs,

since I've never really done that before, I thought this would be a good place to say THANKS. You're doing some impressive work. I check the VCS log about once a day, and there's always some visible progress when I check. Thanks for your commitment and daily commits to a great game.

And thanks to the release team (aka rubidium, who happens to be a very active SVN contributor as well ;-) ) for packaging the latest stuff. :-)

It is really great to be able to play the first real computer game I tried when I was like 12 years old (and I was fascinated back then!) even today, in an always-improving open source version.

I upgraded 0.7.0 to this version, but kept getting the error message "No available language packs (invalid versions?)". The installer renamed the old lang-folder to lang(2) and created a new one. All files are there. I tried changing dutch.lng to english.lng and english_US.lng in openttd.cfg, but nothing seemed to work.

Finally, I reinstalled 0.7.1-RC2 without uninstalling and it works. There might be a bug in the automatic upgrade, thought it was worth mentioning. I'm using the 64 bit version for XP x64.

Aside from this, awesome work :)

Are you quite sure it did it that way? I would have guessed that the installer created and populated lang(2)/ instead of updating lang/.

I checked the timestamps, the newest ones (aka, the new installed files) were in the lang-folder.

Then yes, you are sure. I stand (sit) corrected.

This confuses me as to what any of this has to do with The Fonz.

He's cool? Cool being the opposite of warm, the optimum temperature for summer. Summer is one of the four seasons. The Four Seasons were a pop and rock group from the late sixties. The Sixties were known as a time of swinging and good times, and was the time of the hippie movement. Modern hippies are advocates of open source, which is what this entire project is.

But other than that, the post seems irrelevant.

Close, humorous, but no cigar. The Fonz, being the coolest human on the planet, could never admit that he was wrong. He could not even say the word 'wrong'. Flavius was attempting to make a similar comparison against DaleStan. This is a total fallacy as DaleStan is more than willing to admit, publicly, when he is wrong - rare that it may be.
