OpenTTD 0.5.3

Today we have released 0.5.3 which contains lots of small bugfixes and a few major bugfixes that could lead to remotely triggered crashes of servers and/or clients.

We therefor urge you to update to 0.5.3.

Binaries can be found as usual at http://www.openttd.org/downloads.php and you get the sources from svn://svn.openttd.org/tags/0.5.3

The changelog (since 0.5.2) can be seen at http://wiki.openttd.org/index.php/OpenTTD_0.5.3

That's a considerably large Change Log. Many thanks to all those working on these bug fixes, new additions etc...

OT: Mr X - When's your birthday pal? Mine's coming up on the 9th October.

Is it just me or has 0.5.3 broken something?

I find now that in all my games the Oil Wells are decreasing production and closing down, I updated a few days ago and continued playing one of my games to see all the Oil Wells on the map decrease production and 3 closed down within 20 years.

Could be just me, but I have never had industries close down before in any of my games in ages, since I started playing OpenTTD...

It's actually a bugfix as they used to decrease and die. This is part of the game logic as it was a while ago, but it got broken some time underway.

Furthermore oil wells are designed to close down after a while. You'll also notice that oil rigs will start showing up around the time that the oil wells dry up.

Yeah, I knew they used to decrease and die after a while, but I thought it was intensional that this was removed and the oil wells just acted like a normal industry. No real problem, just makes me rethink my plans a little now... :)
