[OTTD] The 1.000.000.000 Euro Game

Post by Castor »

Me and my Collagea have been playing this co-op network game trying to create company that will have 1.000.000.000 profit a year.

We have succeeded this by doing the following:

First, we needed some solid income. So we built a coal network.
Image

After that, the main lines for the global network were constructed. We wanted to use only one factory, one city, one refinery, one steelfactory and one sawmill:
Image

Slowly the network expands (1999):
Image

40 years later, we connected almost everything (except cities), still not generating enough money for the 1.000.000.000 Euros.
Image

30 years from that, 2067, the network is getting overloaded. Goods couldn't be transported fast enough, which was a huge impact on the profit:
Image

We started to construct a separate line for the goods produced by the factory. We increased the number of lines to the factory from 4 to 8. But it still didn't solve all the traffic jams we were facing in 2086.
Image

Only after we put the goods on seperate lines, the trafficjams we solved:
Image

Then we let the game run for a year and see, we've done it! €1.000.000.000 profit a year! The screenshot also shows the most complex junction in the game (partially)

Yes, the inflation was on. Didn't know I could turn it off. We actually didn't pay that much attention to the initial settings :)

I'll add the savegame.

We've played with r10081

also maybe a list of GRF's your using, i'm guessing your using a waypoint GRF ?

as i've just loaded it with R10814, and get a large amount of "Train *** has a Void order" messages.

can i just also ask, what's with the Wood Trucks, sitting in a drive through stop, where'd they get that wood from :s,

Prehaps, a Mod or member of Admin, can Rename the thread, and move it to the Saved Game Section of the forum ?

nice network, however, ever thought about not having so many sharp turns, and having the Realistic Acceleration patch enabled ?

Regards

We've removed a waypoint since that wasnt needed anymore. But we didnt update all the trains.
I'm not sure which grf we've used. Some city buildings, industry and public stations, longer vehicles, new forest?

I tend to build the less sharp curves, but my collegue didnt.

I didn't realise there was this board! Well, I've renamed it. But I cannot move it.

Now try that but with the inflation OFF. You'll need a LOT bigger network to achieve the 1.000.000.000 Euro.

I hooked up my accelerator to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car. Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car. Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far you take the wall with you. Spoilers and bodykits are how much of the wall you take with you. Rollcages and windownets are how much of a mess you leave on the wall.

That is indeed the next challenge! We'll start a new game today. I wonder when we get it done.

It sounds more than it is...I changed your save game to that it was in £ (what I play in) and it was only about £400m a yeah. So I fired up one of my recentish games, changed it to € and without autorenewing the trains I get €1.6bn a year. With renewing the trains I got about €1.4bn a year.

I have a whole bunch of grfs loaded, I think japan set 1.0 and planeset are the most important ones. Here's a screenshot anyway incase you can't load my game.

Your income is over 1.000.000.000 your profit, however, isn't. But I bet if you do not construct anything for a year, you'll have about 2.000.000.000 profit. Well done!

(But with vehicle autoreplace on)

Well anyway, in this game I have a lot to improve. The whole map is one network but there are a lot of problems at some stations.
