NARS2 - the North American Railway Set [2.52 September 2021]

Post by PikkaBird »

Hello!

Here we have the official release thread for NARS2! It's been a couple of years in the making, and there's still a bunch more things we want to add. But it's playable now, and we wanted to have a public release to get some feedback.

You can download from the website here. Please read at least the pages on Requirements and Parameters before playing.

Let us know what you think, what you like and what you don't, what bugs got missed. And have fun!

I shall now hand you over to Dan to say a few words. :P

A LOT of work has gone into this set, and the results are definitely worth it. It's been nearly 2 and a half years since the last release, and it shows with this new version.

You cna literally start railroading from 1830 on and this may push earlier start dates into the limelight in TTDP ;)

But as Pikka said, play around with it and the parameters, there are lots of hidden surprises!

Enjoy, and post any bug reports and suggestions here.

Congratulations to you and DanMacK, Pikka on managing to get another release done.

Because its not to everyone's taste, some people don't like things changing over time for 'no reason' as they see it?

Epic list. Congratz :)
All art and vehicle stats I authored for TT and derivatives are as of now PUBLIC DOMAIN! Use as you see fit
Just say NO to the TT fan-art sprite licensing madness. Public domain your art as well.

[EDIT] Working now.

Hi,
I'm getting a DNS lookup error (FF3) and a 501/505 error (IE7) for page http://www.pikkarail.com/ttdp/grf/nars2w.grf
Anyone else having this problem?
Cheers,
Rob

Congratulations, Pikka and Dan!

Not only another great train set but also a very innovative one. I am really eager now to start a new game with the NARS2 in 1830, though unfortunately it will be a while before I will have the time.

I am not a huge fan of American traction (although, I am partial to the F Series and the CC1 Electric) but wow, the detail in this set is amazing.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeease do the same for the UKRS!!!

Lovely set, although the dos version has a small bug! When the 2n company colour is grey some flashing pixels appear on the mail carriage that is available on 1870.

If that is the case, it must be a problem with the DOS 2cc maps; there's nothing special about that mail car sprite.

amazing

bug: I found a bug in the narrowed track
the reserved slopes look weird. They have more width and some also have some white lines

They don't have white lines, that's because the reserved sprites are laid over the normal track so those white lines are in fact the narrower tracks below.
