I'm hoping to release first version in a week or two, depending on how busy/lazy I am.

Things that need to be done for the first version:
  • code the last few bits of graphics that still aren't done
  • set (un)loading speeds for passengers/cargo
  • running costs for freight/passenger wagons, locos and mus already have them

Some things that are planned for the later versions:
  • correct buy menu graphics
  • additional help texts
  • paint scheme changes, currently these are based only on year built, but they should probably change automatically and/or by refitting
  • running sounds
  • custom cargo aging for different passenger car types
  • automatic refitting
  • variable running costs like in ukrs and nars
  • balancing purchase and running costs, if needed
and of course any new graphics that are drawn will be coded, and bugs found will be fixed.

some (but not all) of the things that will be in the first release:

double postage

I saw some really cool model pictures at Finnish Railroad Museum's forum. As far as I know these should be historically accurate.

Image
I'm not 100% sure with identifications but I think that the steamer is Hk5, blue paint was used in 1920s and 1930s in some (all??) steamers. First coach is EP mail/3rd.class passenger combine, then DE? and 3 axle C maybe, the last is old style F conductor's van.

more pictures here, including Ek local coach, P 2-axle mail van, Sk steamer(not sure about exact model) and somekind of tiny narrow gauge tank engine

That's photorealistic.

Hmm... When i wasn't active here on forums, there's been introduced new (2 years old) wagons for Talvivaara (and other) traffic.
See http://vaunut.org/sarja/458

Wagons:

-Tadds for chalk: http://vaunut.org/kuva/55957?s=1
-Sgmmns-w, for ferro-oxide transport from Kemira to Kokkola, has Innofreight containers: http://vaunut.org/kuva/55956?s=1
-Sg-t, for wood chips transporting: http://vaunut.org/kuva/55955?s=1
(Shmmns-tw was already on our lists)
(Snpss too)
-Uan-t, zinc-concentrate transport from Talvivaara to Harjavalta, has containers: http://vaunut.org/kuva/55952?s=1
-Tamn-tw, Limestone transport from Kokkola to Talvivaara: http://vaunut.org/kuva/55951?s=1
-Zaens-v tanker, Natrium hydroxide transport from ? to Talvivaara: http://vaunut.org/kuva/57443
-Zans tanker, sulphuric acid transport from Kokkola to Talvivaara: http://vaunut.org/kuva/55949

-> Freight wagon table updated..

We could add some other locomotives from private users:

Automatic wagon mover http://vaunut.org/kuvat/?tag0=19|OtsoRobot|

C600: http://vaunut.org/kuva/54758?tag0=19|C600|
Two little Dr14's,
Move66, http://vaunut.org/kuva/58027?tag0=19|Move66|
Move67, http://vaunut.org/kuva/8031?tag0=19|Move67|

Move90. http://vaunut.org/kuva/59076?tag0=19|Move90| red and yellow http://vaunut.org/kuva/58504?tag0=19|Move90| version.
(Same as Dv12, but V12 and less hp, less top speed, smaller radiator)

Do we have, btw, Osg transformer wagon in our set? http://vaunut.org/kuvat/?tag0=11|Osg|
That would be a nice to add too.

That 10kmh cube wouldn't make any sense in OTTD, and I don't see a point in including two three nearly idectical locos that the C600 and Move66/67 are.

But hold your horses for now, when this everlasting project is finally, after 8 years, approaching the first real release.

Move66/67 could be same machine.

But C600 is different than that Move66/67. It is more blocky and has more hp.

Maybe that 10 km/h is not enough for that box, but this should be: http://vaunut.org/kuva/72135?u=213
Dr35, A highly refined version of Otso-Robot, 75 HS "high speed", maximum speed 30 km/h, power 548 hp, mass 67,5 t, maximum train weight 4000 t :P

EDIT: Updated locomotive tracking tables for locomotive sounds tracking. Also, worked on certain available locomotive sounds.
EDIT2: Now, on the tracking tables, if sounds are marked as "Complete" they are available for preview and coding here: http://users.tt-forums.net/finnish/sounds/
All sounds are on format required by NewGrf specs, 8-bit 11025 Hz mono, and they are all smaller than 64 kb.

Now there is missing of planned ones:

-Sm1, Sm2, Sm3, Sm4, Sm5, Sm6
-Dr15, Dv13 (N), Dm8/9
-Sr3 (no wonder, haven't been IRL decided yet which one it will be, Vectron or TRAXX or ES64...)

Any help for recording those sounds is appreciated.

Double post. When i was crawling this thread back, i noticed that there were some wagons that weren't on the tracking tables.
Also other updates:
Move66, Move90 and C600 added to diesels.
Dv12 27-series sprites had a small cowling detail fail that was fixed now..
Hv3 had Hv1 stats...
Now on Steam and Diesel tracking tables there is animated-column for marking that certain locomotives are or will be animated. (Dv15, Dv16, Hr1)
Hr1 sprites updated to animated ones.
Also, green liveries which are going to be done, are marked on tables also.

So step on F5 when going next time on tracking tables.. :)

Without doubt, this set is going to be a ultimate, with it's many little details and amount of rolling stock, coaches, wagons, and running/acceleration and idle sounds.
At target, there is going to be 38 locomotives and MU's, of which there will be 32 with running sounds. (Currently excluding steam ones.)
That is 84%.

Dm11 could be removed from the list, since it never made into commercial service, and all of them were spent back to Spain.

But still it is a DMU that could have had a better history, so no for that. Why not to keep it, it has been drawn, coded and it also has running sounds. I agree that it's ugly, but still.. :P

(Minor another tracking table update, A-steam is marked as progress, and No+Po (grey) sprites added to coach lists. Proper forgotten credits to some sprites added too.)

EDIT: At 1897, Karhula-Sunila-railway, 6 kilometres long, started as private narrow-gauge railway, servicing several industries at the time. It was converted to broad gauge at 1926. At midlle of 60's, there was need to replace the 50's built machine, Move 2. Valmet produced one for this railway (the red one), and one to United Paper Mills Kuusankoski factory (yellow one). Yellow one was transferred to Imatran veturipalvelu (Imatra locomotive service), to service Stora Enso papermills at Imatra. It also serves to Anjala paper mills and Inkeroinen paperboard factories.

Now, i started with modifying Dv12 now having a little narrower frontend, that does not have upper cooler fan that Dv12 has. Move90 has 1050 hp MGO V12 BSHR whereas Dv12 has 1360 hp MGO V16 BSHR. Move90 is heavier than Dv12, to provide more traction effort at lower speeds, and maximum speed is 60 km/h. Now the sprite itself.

EDIT2: Quick fix on Dv15 and Dv16 sprites, they had a unnecessary piece of cooler fan in one view.

EDIT3: Sr3's are on call of bits.. Seems that several criterias favor Siemens, and it has new Vectron on it's portfolio, so i think Vectron is 70% sure for Sr3. Earlier EuroSprinter is starting to be a little aging, despite it's top speed of 230 km/h whereas Vectron has 200 km/h. Power, however, remains the same, 6400 kW. (400 kW more than Sr2) :)

EDIT4: We could add SeaRail wagons also ( http://www.searail.net/en/wagons/wagons.html ), but unfortunately, the SeaRail train ferry service was closed down four months ago.
Suitable wagons:
- Laais 921
- Shimms
- Rilns
- Smpns
- Snps
- Vgk
- Vok
- Vo
- Rs

EDIT5: Move90, Dm11 and N (Dv13) have now running sounds too.

EDIT6: http://oskari89.1g.fi/kuvat/FTRS/Wagons/ updated wagons "catalogue" a little, pictures are named with assiocated wagon names, and are sorted from a to z. Hope this helps drawing those :)

Double post.

Fictious, not so distant future...

At middle 2010's, VR's passenger monopoly is starting to shatter. This is due to VR not having much intrests with local/regional traffic outside Helsinki metropolitan area (it is not so much profitable..).
At the same time, increasing fuel costs and taxes are cutting medium-range regional and some of local traffic with family cars and buses.
There is a tendency to transfer this traffic to the rails, via buses and trams.
There is a need for new, small and innovative local and regional traffic train, which can run under catenary and without catenary, but under catenary without consuming fuel oil.
Sm5 can't run without catenary.
And company to run it, without having a bad attitude to local/regional traffic outside metropolitan area.

New train company, Proxion Train decides to launch a passenger stock pool with new Bombardier stock, the Bombardier AGC from France (B81500/82500), and it has strong motivation to negotiate with local authorities to fund initial costs for new local and regional traffic to and between cities with over 60000 residents. Railway networks are double-tracked to not clog with regional and local traffic.
Passenger comfort is greatly increased, with use of ergonomic and soft seats, which can be lowered towards vertical position to take naps. WLAN and 230 VAC are available to every passenger. And vending machine for snacks, and a wc, of cource.

Unlike previous rolling stock such as Dm12, this Hybrid Multiple Unit has a complete integrated service for smaller local transportation needs, and it can be used on local, regional and intercity-traffic.

Municipal authorities are centering urban planning to certain distance within rail networks, to maximise amount of potential users.
Few years pass.......

Passenger rates are blooming, and several of those local and regional traffic becomes self-sufficent. New tram lines are introduced on even smaller towns, providing easy and cheap local transport on short distances and linking to railway stations and halts. Parking space is greatly increased on stations. Smaller and smaller towns have halts. Halts are self-service, and passengers can pay direcly with mobile phones. The future of regional and local transport is literally on rails.

Now, VR itself makes a historical decision to change attitude to local and regional traffic outside metropolitan area, and it does order the same Bombardier AGC's from reasons that they are innovative and flexible, and cost efficent.

Proxion has original blue SNCF livery with logos replaced, and VR has new green livery.
Info: http://www.bombardier.com/en/transporta ... 0d80010382
(In reality, Proxion Train is just planning to start freight traffic, locomotives are not yet known, but is aiming for passenger traffic too)
(Proxion's website: http://www.proxion.fi/en/unit/5/ )
Updated tracking tables too, this is now there.

EDIT: Fixed Sm6 stats on tracking table, too light and too few passengers :P

There was one drawn years ago, but it was out of scale to the new sprites. I'll see what I can do.

I'll add Mas to the tracking table and provide info as usual -> Done

And minor update to Ome, speed is actually 100 kph when it was 80 kph.

EDIT: Proxion is coming to the freight traffic at autumn 2013, they managed to get Vapo Timber's traffic from Nurmes, Lieksa and Hankasalmi sawmills.
They are starting buying locomotives and some wagons immediately, and that's process going to last year and a half. Will be very intresting what they are buing..

Most probable options are, as in previous Dr17/18 case for VR itself:
-Vossloh G1700BB or G2000BB; or line-running Euro 3000/4000 (EMD engines!), or EUROLight, or newly introduced DE12/DE18
-Voith Gravita 15 BB or Gravita 20 BB

Or maybe some Vossloh Hybrid (?): http://vaunut.org/keskustelut/index.php ... =135;image

And here's btw, some plans from Valmet at 80's which didn't make it for Sr2:
http://vaunut.org/kuva/45950
Speed 200 km/h, T.E. 270 kN, Power 4500 kW, weight 80 t. Largely based on Dr16-tech, but marketing failed, as in some previous products that Valmet made...
Even though that hasn't been made, that would be cool to include on this set as "speculative" electric locomotive :)
EDIT: Here are broadsides.. Decided to modify Sr2 to it, but other views are much harder to do.. Could someone help with the other views? :)

EDIT2: Locomotive and MU tracking tables now have sounds directly linked on sounds-column, if one has them.

EDIT3: All freight wagons have now source material links, either to vaunut.org's search or my 1g.fi gallery. Freight wagons have been moved to subfolders there.
Also, some of steams and missing diesels have source material links.

EDIT4: SeaRail and Russian wagons, which are running within Finnish borders, added to tracking tables.

Double post. In addition of Valmet's M4500E, i think that we could add following locomotives planned by Valmet on year 1985, to the set:
-M2200D2, a 2-cab line-locomotive version of Dr16, with more powerful engine (2200 kW, 2950 hp)
-M4000E (M4500E's precessor), electric and more powerful version of M2200D2 (4000 kW, 5360 hp)
Those two's broadsides are here, on M-locomotive's ad:

Image
(see larger version here)
http://tve4.1g.fi/kuvat/Sekalaista/Main ... 8.jpg/full
Those would be coloured to Dr16's colour scheme, of course :)

And then, these 1950's locomotives which run for a year here each:

-KDs1, Nohab line-running locomotive, Co'Co', year 1959, power 1950 hp, speed 105-134 km/h (regearable), weight 108 t
http://vaunut.org/kuvat/?tag0=20|KDs1|
http://ravnsbak.dk/articles/my%20mx%20c ... 1_2007.htm <- Same colours as on that.

-KDh1, MaK line-running locomotive, C'C' (in Finland, was B'B' on Norway), year 1959, power 2000 hp, speed 140 km/h, weight 80 t, paint red-white

Image
http://vaunut.org/kuvat/?tag0=20|KDh1|
See also http://loks-aus-kiel.de/index.php?nav=1 ... n=portrait for color photos

-KDh2, MaK shunting locomotive, C', year 1959, power 575 hp, speed 80 km/h, weight 45 t, same as NSB Di.2, paint red-white

Image

http://www.jernbane.net/db/type.asp?ID=9
http://vaunut.org/kuva/33880

-KDh3, Jenbach DH400, shunter/light line-service locomotive "Jenny", B, year 1958, power 400 hp, speed 60 km/h (in fact, it is still alive on Haapamäki) :)
http://vaunut.org/kuvat/?tt=20&i1=KDh3
(technically same as: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%96BB_2062 )

Each of those run about a year here, in 1959-1960.

I don't think this set needs something VR/other finnish company has never owned/ran itself.

But if someone wants to draw them, they may be included. They aren't a priority, though. They are just adding variation (filling timeline) when there's not new stuff added for long time. And they are suitable for "what if" scenarios ;) Not built, but what had plans in reality (in Valmet's engineers minds), rolling stock is still acceptable for this set, i think.

And more fuel to the fire: Talgo 22. This innovative and ambitious doubledecker-EMU was planned as Sm5, but hadn't had competed to functional MU. Testing wagon set, triple-articulated, with jacob's bogies was seen at 2005 http://vaunut.org/kuvat/?tt=11&i1=KOEV&i2=999055 on various locations, when project was done about five years and 8 million euros, but then, Stadler FLIRT was announced to be bought (at September 2006), so research and developement stopped (?). Testing wagons were based on Ed doubledecker coach. Talgo's still passively marketing it.

Rendering: http://www.oiko.phnet.fi/images/Talgo-22-Helsinki.jpg
http://www.talgo.com/pdf/T22in.pdf

Specs:

-Refittable for commuter, intercity and regional traffic
-Speed range 140-200 km/h
-Seating: >240 (60 in each wagon)
-Power: 1700 to 3200 kW
-Cab wagon length: 17,5 metres, Trainset minimum length 50 m

Intrestingly, intermediate wagons are just 7,5-9 metres long, and in this picture they are between those longer wagons. Longer wagons are simulating ends, but they are without cabs on that testing set.

EDIT: Tracking table updated to have more steam locomotive picture sources, and those others added too.

I recoloured KDs1 from Nohab AA12 (from Emperor Jake, Generic European Set, with his permission, of course). Here it is. :) Looks cute. EDIT: Has also running sounds now on tracking table :)

EDIT: Here's KDh1, modified from Purno's Danish MaK. Needs a little work and shading yet. Running sounds are on progress.

EDIT2: KDh2 has now running sounds. Sprites for it can be modified from Purno's Danish MaK too.

EDIT3: Sprites of M4500E, M4000E and, M2200D2 are too on progress, and their running sounds are done too. :)

Based on similar technology, "Dr16's line-running, faster big brother" M2200D2 would have had Pielstick V16 (Dr16 has Pielstick V12), so it's running sounds are derived from SNCF CC72100 (which has Pielstick V16), and which also has similar AC-transmission that is on Dr16.

M4000E and M4500E's sounds are derived from DSB class EA, which is on same power class, same type of AC-transmission techology, same age and Bo'Bo' layout. :)

EDIT4: I think that FIRS cargoes should be supported too by this set's cargo wagons eventually, i'll add them to suitable wagons shortly. -> Done, see tracking tables.

Here's M4500E, still in progress... And we can use these 2cc freight wagon sprites from Wile E.Coyote, to modify large amout of SeaRail and Russian wagons.

EDIT: First one, Vgk, complete:

EDIT2: And three more, Smnps, Vof and Vofa are done too, posted them on tracking tables :)

EDIT3: And in addition of those three, Vtad :)
