TT-Forums Meet 2013

Post by orudge »

Has anybody had any thoughts on what they'd like to do for a meet this year? There were rumblings about going back to London again, which I may potentially investigate further. Where would you all like to go, and what would you like to do?

Come to sunny Stoke! Then when you return back home, you can all be grateful that no matter how bad your home town is, it's not as bad as Stoke :P

London seems good, with it being 150 years of the tube and all...

Just had an idea - how about a tour of the Far North of Scotland by train?

Make it London (June - August) and I'll be there!

Make it somewhere else in the UK and I'll have to take a train there :)

London sounds good. Hopefully we can get all the Europeans back for a day :D

yes it was... I was planning such a holiday for May time.

Neasden depot open day is scheduled for 31st August - it may be a bit late but is it worth organising it around that sort of time?

London or York would get my vote. London by personal preference :)

Another idea though, what about a heritage railway that is easy to get to?

Bluebell?

Their East Grinstead extension is opening soon. Should be open by summer.

Or Nene Valley Peterborough :) Quite easy to get to with connections.

I guess the downside is that there's no pubs on a heritage line :P

Hmmm a heritage visit isn't a bad idea actually. What's the closest to London in terms of travel time?

Closest heritage line, at least that I know of, would be the Bluebell or the Kent and East Sussex.

I understand London is probably the easiest place to get to from anywhere in Britain, but can't help but feel its a little overdone :) Or, if we do do London, can we do the Science Museum then? It's free AFAIK and of course, transporty related (or even the LT Museum then?) somewhere fitting, like we did with Crewe (still bummed I couldn't make it that day)

Spa Valley with a pub or two at Groombridge

OR Epping and Ongar would technically be the closest.

I'd prefer London over going to somewhere remote and rural like Crewe :P Then again, getting there and back gave me a taste of the British railway system so it wasn't too bad
