TT Meet 2012 - Crewe - 25/08/12 - FINAL PREPARATIONS

Post by orudge »

Hello all,

So, it's been decided that the 2012 meet will be held in Crewe on the 25th August 2012. Further information on the meet can be found at the wiki link below. If you think you will be able to make it, please update the wiki page with your name:

http://www.tt-wiki.net/wiki/TT_Meet_2012

If you're not definitely sure you can make it, but think you can, please update it anyway. If you're registered on the wiki, just click Edit and add "* ~~~~" in the appropriate category, and the wiki software will autocomplete your name.

More information will be published when we've decided what we'll actually be doing on the day and so on. If you have any thoughts, please post them here!

For reference, the old discussion topic is here.

Update, 10th August 2012:

The attached PDF document has full details of the plan for the day. If you have any queries, please post them here.

We will be meeting first at the Gaffers Row pub at 48 Victoria Street, Crewe. This is about a mile away from the station, so hopefully the weather will be nice on the day and we can enjoy a leisurely walk there. I think I'm going to take a train that should arrive at 10:18, so I should certainly be at the pub before 11:00. We'll then stay there for drinks, banter and lunch, and will head towards the Heritage Centre in the afternoon, likely by 14:00 or so.

If you have previously signed the wiki to say you'll be there and you won't be, please remove your name from the list.

If you have not yet signed the wiki to say you're coming, please do so now!

London Midland often do very cheap travel on their trains during school holiday periods. Almost certainly there'll be one on, and you could take their express to Crewe.

I could get there and back in a day from Aberdeen (via train), London should be no problem. ;)

£15 each way. Get up to Euston, couple of hours straight up to Crewe. Easy route, very fast, and usually a pretty good price :D
Even as low as £20 for two singles direct from Euston to Crewe ;) You can do it lad!

Lankuu will be buying Jamie a doughnut that he owes since the London meet. Or possibly the other way round...
Subtle. Very subtle.

TT-Forums drinking contest? Participation is mandatory. Loser has to debate Alan Fry in the corner on why Pendos aren't economical for the Crewe - Derby line.

I'd take it you are then NOT welcome!

I'll put myself down as Maybe, if there is such a category. If I find a job soon enough, I'll sneak down into JamieLei's house and stay with him and then go to the meet :P

In which case cost is certainly no problem for you so long as you keep an eye on the prices when they become available :P
I'll let you know if I stop anything if you like since I'll be taking a similar route :)

£10.25 each way is the cheapest advances you will get and that is VWC+connections so will be into london, across on the tube then out of euston

A Southern a London Midland Return which will only be valid via the west london line would be 24.50, any permitted return £46.15

Virgin do certainly do very cheap singles if you book ahead a bit. Getting back to London will be dirt cheap, but getting up in the morning will be expensive.

Yeah South Croydon to MKC, then take the hourly express to Crewe.

Simple stuff, and those trains are so lightly loaded you'd probably get a seat fairly sharpish.

It's £13 for me and I'm gonna spend £20 on 10 beers in Wetherspoons and make an ill-advised pass at JamieLei to upset the homophobics amongst us.

Danger! Danger!

If orudge says he is doing a survey and asks to see your arse, do not show him your arse.

He just wants to see your arse.

I wish someone had warned me two years ago. I feel so stupid.

Thanks for carrying this on Owen.
