It's OpenTTD (mind the missing space in the name). And using it (or its graphics) in a collage is certainly right. Both is a form of art and can certainly inspire eachother or be combined fruitfully.

Or did you mean college, indicating that you might better not play it there and pay a bit more attention in its classes? ;-) Exceptions might be art classes ;-)

(Sorry, you literally asked for it)

I played TTDX in School/College; i even went round, and much to the annoyance of the technicians, installed it on over 170 PCs using norton ghost and a modified image of the schools standard install that i had secretly copied some weeks before... Happy days...

Although it feels quite nerdy to my fellow students to be playing a 500+ train map with very complex signalling, junctions and stations it does feel great to skip some of the more boring parts of class. However out of respect for the teacher I never play while he is teaching since that is just plain disrespectful and I wouldn't want anyone to do that to me either.
It takes either 1 train with 8 carriages or 500 cars to move 1000 people. Simple math.

I happily played OTTD on a memory stick in school....

But, a friend of mine managed to ply The Simpsons: Hit and Run without disturbing the technicians.

But still, be very wary, and not be like JacobD88.

I'd recommend reading your college's IT EULA. It may have a clause about installing or running programs not authorised by the IT Department.

Haha, I actually read through the one at my school, and it essentially said that you can to anything, as long as it doesn't have the intent of harming/breaking everything.

Playing TTO demo was how I got my first ban from using computers, back in '95 I think! Next day tried to bribe teacher with mars bar, didn't work!

I love how a bit like Sim City TTO/D/P/OTTD has stayed the course!

I say pretend it's a transport simulation and helps with your studies :)

Our college banned you from installing anything..... But when challenged for running software that wasn't installed as standard I merely pointed out it was on my usb stick and the rules didn't forbid executing software, just installing it!

Or be like me, never stop playing with the schools PCs, discover how to use poledit to override the admins policies, boot alternate OS's from CD-ROM/USB, be a constant pain in the IT teachers arse and hope it lands you a job as a part-time school administrator (Which it did for a few years from 6th-form onwards) :D

*reminises about sitting in the technicians room sat between Dopey and Sneezy (The two NT3.5 then NT4 servers that the school nicked from British Gas), drinking vodka, listening to Rock and Metal, or looking at porn sites (to blacklist them of course  ) with the technicians whilst secretly plotting how to get the next game on to every PC in the school as soon as possible as i got told admin passwords, watched them type them in or "aquired" admin software to play with at home*

The IT department was like the school lepper colony at that time; on the top floor accross one wing, out of the way, next to the music practice room, so we could pretty much do as we wanted.

Sadly however, schools tend to be up on this sort of thing nowadays, so i'd read any paperwork on what punishments could be dished out for you messing around with school software and equipment as suggested above before you do anything... Or, take a coding course and start writing patches for OTTD legitimately in school time

*...*= Above action not condoned in a post year 2000 school environment... They have CCTV, IP-Trackers and legislation to use against you now... The only time the school ever interfered with us in the IT dept. was when one of the technicians got done for having "relations" with a 6th-former behind Sneezy, if it wasn't for the fact that she was a member of the school, we'd probably have been left alone then too... Long Live Long Eaton [Upper] Community School (It's now long demolished and sold off to business)
