Re: The Official TT-Forums Meet of 2011 - Manchester - 27/08
Great to hear! I should be able to make it assuming train prices/times are reasonable and nothing comes up between now and then.
Have we got a place in Manchester to meet or is that still to be decided?

We have a venue, Manchester.
A specific venue is yet to be decided, but it is most likely to be a public house, as is traditional.

Well, seeing as you're just accross those pesky hills to me, over in Manchester. I shall more than likely be making an appearance. Much to everyones hatred, i'm sure.

May I suggest the Aviation(Runway) Viewing Park as something to jot down on the research list?orudge wrote:At the moment, that is still being worked on.

Although I'm not sure what the facilities it has for large groups of people and such are like, it might be an interesting meeting area being transport related.

Yes indeed, but it is quite some distance from the city centre, it's transportation connections, and indeed any public transport except for maybe a bus route or two along the main road.
Also I believe there is little of the way of internal arrangements, so if the weather is a bust we'll all be sopping wet (unless we all go and stand in the aisle of their Trident)
I believe an inner city pub will be the likeliest location, however, it cannot really be said which if it turns out to be packed on the day! A rendezvous near one may be most realistic before moving on in the hunt for a place, with a preferred list at hand.
In other word, like how Birmingham went down a few years back.

And London, and Edinburgh!Born Acorn wrote:In other word, like how Birmingham went down a few years back.

Ah, but then you have to park! I would probably prefer to drive rather than taking the train, but where is one going to park in Central Manchester! It'd be reet mental!Born Acorn, on the wiki wrote:Born_Acorn - Driving. (45 mins by car? Would be a fool not to.)

If your coming from the far north, you could always ditch your car at Horwich Parkway Station

I'd just like to ask, what time will we be meeting and what time will we be dispersing?

The meets tend to start around 11am, and finish at maybe 4pm. Some may choose to stay around for longer.

Can I suggest the Star & Garter as a possible venue? It's just across the road from the Fairfield Street entrance to Piccadilly (Platform 13/14 & Metrolink)...
I was social distancing before it was cool

I'm now registered.
Re: TT Meet 2011 - Manchester - 27/08/11 - PLEASE SIGN UP
I have nothing planned for that day at the moment, so I have put myself down as possibly coming. The only issue is that if I do not have a job by then, then I can not afford to come. Hopefully I am not that unemployable...

I was possibly thinking of the Old Wellington Inn. If it is a hot day, it has a massive outdoors area (with shade), and if it is not suitable it is closer to other venues, with three other pubs in the immediate vicinity.
Its also close to Deansgate and Corporation Street, each filled with happenin', and the Arndale centre.
