Name changes

I would change all those weird names we have lately, common, is that all they can think off
Numbers, @, [, ], ... all those things make your name unpronouncable
For me a "-" or a "_" is the only thing I would allow, apart from normal letters

Who wants to talk to a series of numbers ????????????

Zetor20... , we always call him zetor anyway, what's wrong with that
Raptor ...., I would rather pick just Raptor
way2fun, why not, I leave out those "_" anyway

This is the worst idea ever, I hope Owen doesn't even consider it.
Have you ever been to IRC? People change nick so often, you don't know who's who.
I would even consider disabling/limiting avatar changes. When you get used to one avatar, then the same person posts under a different one, it takes time to get used to it...
People (me at least) links the person to his/her avatar, and expects that 'avatar' to post in the same manner...

And user nick changes ARE stupid. ATM, the only thing you 100% can recognise a person by, is by he's username. Avatars change (I hate mine now), ranks change, postcounts change... But not nicks, and that's good.

But in this case, the change is anounced in the news, so it's not problem

Hmm, can I ask why? IMO, "way2fun" just doesn't look right at all... looks too 'squashed'.

Also, it is possible for me to enable a feature that lets users change their own usernames, whenever they want, but I'm not going to do that, as that would just be stupid, and incredibly confusing. :roll:

Changing avatars is more confusing to me as i dont think i look as much at the names.. as at the avatars.. like Cool saiyan powerupdude with flames used to be Shadow.. :roll:

change nick once every so many months limit?

I think it's better for nicks to be unchangeable except by petition to Owen. In other words, the way it is now.

yeah, or have a live time change of 2, so during your intire time at the forum you can only ever change it twice, and then no more, not even by asking Owen...

Right you are. What I should have said was replace them with spaces, because that was what I meant. Not your fault. If you don't think it's worth is though, no problem. :wink:

Once a year would be good. I know this one forum, even though rapidfire name changing is turned on, almost no one changes their names. Because it's an RPG forum. People get pished if there's name changes. I changed my name twice there, both times cause I made a new character.

While we are at it, and in a movement of global simplification, then I would like my nick to be change to TestMan57, as it is what I use most, and avoid confusion with possible other testmen

(and it is what I use on IRC too...)
