== 1. Start meeting == Active members during this meeting are azzaz (came in late), Hyronymus, Jpl, Purno and XeryusTC == 1a. Pick a chairman and a minutes man == XeryusTC will be chairman. Hyronymus will make the minutes. == 1b. Discuss minutes of previous meeting == There was nothing to discuss. == 2. Update and discussions about TRoS engine == XeryusTC informs us that he and Seniltai are writing a new GUI system for their TRoS engine. This new system will be more modular and gives the freedom of implementing self-made GUI objects like radiobuttons, textboxes, buttons, labels etc. It will also make it easier for players to develop their own "skin" for the GUI. Seniltai is also busy writing a model loader. It shouldn't be long before models can be loaded into the "game" soon. Currently a limited number of 3D formats are supported but there should be a wider variety of supported 3D formats soon. XeryusTC will post which 3D formats actually are (to be) supported on the forum. A discussion on the forum about 3D standards for TE should take place too. This should prevent a multitude of zoom levels, facings and lighting. The TRoS engine includes a sound system too since 2 months. It is possible to use 3D positional sounds with this sound engine. The sound engine is fast and removes unused sound files from memory automaticly. It supports the license-free OGG format. Another feature that's probably not needed for TE is database support. The TRoS engine also has a tree structure which makes it easier to associate information. I.e. information concerning the transport company and the road vehicles that company owns. XeryusTC and Seniltai have not yet written a license for the TRoS engine. If they don't find a fitting Open Source licence they will write their own license. Currently the download of the TRoS engine is free of charge. == 3. GUI == == 3a. Discuss a general UI design, there are several threads about this which I will look up later == All GUI elements should be declared according the TRoS engine code otherwise it won't be possible to add action support to GUI elements. Purno drew some stuff for a possible TE GUI sometime ago. As that GUI topic is the most relevant it is suggested to use that topic for further GUI development. XeryusTC will provide some examples from the GUI standard he and Seniltai use during development of the TRoS engine. The TRoS engine supports scaling of the GUI based on bitmaps for GUI elements. To have a good-looking GUI in all scale levels XeryusTC advises to make the bitmaps "big" so they look good on the highest zoom level and on the lowest zoom level. == 3b. Discuss about making the GUI graphics, appoint someone to come up with some work outs of our ideas == Purno is appointed as leader of the GUI development. To get an idea what would be a nice GUI theme for TE the RRT2 and AoEIII theme are suggested. The possibility of a changing GUI skin over time is also dicussed. Although liked by everyone it's determined to focus on a standard skin first. == 4. Set up for an SVN repository == Orudge came into the channel at the right time. During the meeting of June 29th 2006 it was decided to setup an SVN repository for TE. Orudge offered to host it and set it up on his server. The SVN will host all code related to TE, graphics will not be included. They will be stored elsewhere. Orudge offers to setup http://svn.transportempire.com or something similar as long as Steve (project leader) points it back to orduge's server. == 5. Any other business == The Design Document Committee was discussed briefly at the start of the meeting. Since it was created nothing happened in the DD Committee. As it didn't prove of much help in getting the DD finished Hyronymus will discuss scrapping the DD Committee with Steve. Of course there should be "new" thoughts on finally finalising the DD whenever the DD Committee is scrapped. == 6. Next meeting == Public meeting: 11th November, 1800 GMT.
